This week the challenge over on the Pan Pastel blog is By The Sea. This falls just right for me to make a card for MIL to give to my Daughter on her birthday next month. When my Children were small my in-laws live in Cornwall very near to the beach, and as the eldest my Daughter spent a lot of time in the holidays staying with them, and yes lots of time on the beach. She's 29 this year and I'm sure that this card will bring back lots of happy memories for her. For the card I started with an 8x8 white card base, then printed the topper from Joanna Sheen's Faye Whittaker CD. I cut it out and mounted onto some gold textured card that I've had in my cupboard for some time. I then printed a backing paper from the same CD, and mounted this onto the same textured gold card, the sentiment is computer generated again this was mounted onto the gold card. Once I had mounted all of this onto the card base, I remembered that I had some stamps of shells. I stamped onto some white card stock and embossed with gold embossing and coloured with promarkers, once cut out I mounted these onto the card with glue gel. Finally I added some pearls to the front of some of the shells, I remember lots of shells being brought back from the beach, but I'm certain that none of them had pearls in them.
Thank you for taking the time to look, and your kind comments which are always appreciated.
Sue

Definately your daughter will love this beautiful card ! I love the added touch of the shells, they really set the card off, especially with the pearls. I hope you had a great day, Shirleyx
Hi Sue, lovely card for your daughter, you can almost hear and smell the sea, beautiful shells! The picture reminds me of one of the Lavinia stamps with two fairies sitting like these kids, i fell in love with that one, warm greet Miranda

Lovely card Sue. Brought back memories for me as well. My parents retired to Falmouth and I spent many happy holidays there with my children.
