Blossoms and Book Pages at Creative Carte Blanche

I started following the Creative Carte Blanche challenge blog when it launched, with the intention of trying something for their challenges each month. I have to admit that this is the first time I've managed to make something to enter and I've made it just in time too. This was my inspiration for the cardboard canvas that I have made below, the gorgeous Canvas that Rachel of Fisher's Cards and Crafts made the other day. I've had the piece of cardboard floating around my craftroom for some time now and I knew that I had some gorgeous pictures I had found on the Internet, of children dressed in vintage clothing and imitating adults.  I found the perfect one for my project and printed it on to some matt canvas photo paper. I painted my cardboard with white gesso and stuck the photo onto it once it was dry. Next I made the flowers, I cut these using a Crealies die and pages from an old book, then sprayed my glass mat with Carved Pumpkin and Fossilised Amber Distress inks. I diluted with water and placed the flowers into the inks. After drying I put 5 layers of each size together and put a brad though the middle scrunching them up as I went. After sticking the flowers to the board I sprayed some of the same colour Distress Sprays randomly. I finished it all off by adding a ribbon in a matching colour through the top.

Below a close up of the flowers made with the book pages.

90th Birthday Card

I was asked to make a card recently for a 90th Birthday. So I decided to use the Hydrangea Charisma Dies and CD from Tattered Lace. There are beautiful matching backing papers on the CD as well as the flowers. I made an 8x8 card using silver Mirri card for the matting and the corners (these were cut using All Occasions dies). I printed the sentiment onto some white card stock before cutting out the new large round doily also from Tattered Lace, this was mounted onto some foam tape before putting on the card. The flowers were decoupaged with glue gel and I added some butterflies also cut using an All Occasions Die.

Rudolph Days

Wow, where has the last month gone. I can't believe that it's time again for the Rudolph Days Challenge already. My card this month uses 6x6 craft card blanks and stamps from Inkylicious. I also used a bauble stencil by Inkylicious which was coloured through using Frost White pigment ink from Color Box, a white Signo Pen and the brown ink was Ginger from Adirondack. I finished by adding the sentiment, again from Inkylicious and some glitter highlights.

As always I made four of these the same (it helps to boost my growing stash for later in the year).

New Home

Just a quick card to share today. Yesterday my Niece and her boyfriend bought their first home together and although I could have had a card already made for them, they've had quite a job buying somewhere. Here in the south and in the small town where I live in particular there are so many people going after the same few house that are going onto the market, it has taken them well over a year to get this far. First they found that they were not putting in a big enough offer, then they found somewhere and because it was taking so long to go through (not their fault) the lady decided she would ask them to pay a lot more money. So they said thanks, but no thanks and started all over again. Then we get to now and they have just picked the keys up ready to move in at the weekend, I think you can see why I did not want to put the horse before the cart by making the card ready. This one was made using a tonic die and green and black card stock, it was quick and easy to make and ready to pop through their door later on.

Strawberry Delight

Today my card is one that has been made for a little girl who's birthday is in a couple of weeks time. I know that her mummy and daddy don't read this blog so I'm quite safe putting it on here now. I love Heartfelt Creations Dies and Stamps and very often buy the complete package when it is released and this one - Berry Cafe - was no exception. I've used part of a 12x12 background sheet from the paper pad and some silver mirri card on an 8x8 card base. Then I stamped and embossed the images and after cutting them out coloured with pro-markers. Finally I added her name and age using dies from spellbinders.

I would like to enter this into the Creative Fingers Challenge which is anything goes.
Also Artistic Inspirations which is anything goes.

Beautiful Day

Back again this time with another Altenew stamped card, using the Beautiful Day set. Again this is a CAS card something I find so hard normally. I used just two ink pads, Rich Razzleberry and Mossy Meadow from Stampin Up. The sentiment was from the same stamp set and I married the colour of ink with a burgundy matting then onto a 6x6 card blank. I must admit to loving these Altenew stamps and have just taken delivery of two new sets.

Hobby Art Bird Song

Hubby arrived home yesterday evening after a wet but enjoyable weekend of golf, with a bag full of damp clothes (guess who gets to sort it all out). This card is one of the cards that I managed to make over the weekend while he was away. I used the Hobby Art Bird Song stamp set for this and coloured the birds to look like blue tits. I used versamark Black Onyx ink to stamp the images and then coloured in using Spectrum Noir pencils. Then it was mounted onto some navy blue card and a 6x6 card base.

I'm off now to see if I can get some of this washing dry before the rain moves in today. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and your kind comments which are always appreciated.

Altenew Stamps

Well so far I've had an enjoyable weekend crafting away all on my own. Today my mum has come for the day, we may get some crafting done between chatting and watching Andy Murray hopefully win Wimbledon later. This card I've made with the current challenge over on the Stamping Sensations blog, which is Anything Goes with Stamps and Ribbons. In April at the Ally Pally show I bought some Altenew stamps and this is the first chance that I've had to get them out for a play. I love the results of stamping with the same colour to get the effects of shading. The ink pad that I used was from Stampin Up called Melon Mambo, and for the leaves I used Mossy Meadow also from Stampin Up. The sentiment is from the Birthday Blossoms set. I've added an organza ribbon and mounted onto some matching card.

18th Birthday Card

I've been very quiet on the crafting front this week as we have had our grandson 4 days instead on the normal 2 days. But as I had a card that I made a couple of weeks ago but had not posted it on here , I thought I would show you this today. I used some new stamps from Sheena Douglas and the trusty Distress Inks for the background. I love these stamps, they are so handy for making cards for the younger generation and the older rockers of course. Hubby is off playing golf this weekend and now I have caught up with the housework and ironing I'm planning some serious crafting for the next couple of days.

Fun With Friends

I thought I would share with you how I spent the day yesterday. I had a few friends round for a craft play day, and Elaine provided all of the goodies to play with from the new Stampin Up Catalogue (Elaine is standing at the back trying not to look at the camera). We had a great day, starting at 9.30 and crafting right through until 4.30.

Below are my results of the day. First we used the Floral Phrases stamp set and the detailed floral dies which work so well together. Then we played with the Jars of Love set of stamps with the Everyday Jars Dies. I will admit that the middle card was made using the left over jar shape from the card with flowers but rather than the Stampin up stamps I used Lavinia stamps.

I think I can safely say that we all had a great day. Thank you Elaine.

Happy Birthday Andrew

At long last the sun has come out and just in time for an afternoon BBQ for our grandson's 1st Birthday. I can't believe how fast the past year has flown by, he's such a joy. The photo below is at his christening 2 weeks ago with our daughter (his Mummy). The romper suit that he is wearing is the one that our son wore at his christening 29 years ago, I'm so glad that it fitted him.

As well as yesterday's card which FIL gave to him I also made our own and the one my son gave to him too. It's hard sometimes when you have to make cards for the same person but from different senders. For ours I used Crafter's Companion's Adoreables CD for the backing paper and the scene and then a couple of stamps from Jayne Nesterenko, which were coloured with promarkers.

The bottom card is from his Uncle and was made again using Crafter's Companion, Bebunni CD.
The topper has been decoupaged and matched to one of the backing papers. I then used the Scan n cut for the wording on the top card and the Cricut explore for the bottom one.

Once Upon A Time - CD Sunday

The current challenge over on the CD Sunday blog is Once Upon A Time and with our grandson's 1st Birthday tomorrow it was the perfect challenge for me. This card has been made for my F-I-L to give to him. For my card I have used Crafter's Companion, The Tale Of Peter Rabbit from the Beatrix Potter Collection. The decoupaged topper and the backing paper were from the CD, while the sentiment was created on the PC. All was mounted onto silver mirri card and then onto an 8x8 card base. I added some card candy in a matching colour to finish.
