Rudolph and Pixies

I've called this post Rudolph and Pixies, because it fits the challenges over on both of these blogs. It's the 25th of the month so it time again for the Rudolph Days Challenge and also time again for a new challenge over at Pixies Snippets Playground.  I started with a 6x6 card base and the Stag which was cut out from a Lavinia cutting file on the Scan-n-cut and sized to fit the card. I then embossed a slightly smaller piece of card using a snowflake embossing folder from Crafters Companion. I coloured the embossed card with distress inks and then rubbed silver gilding wax over the top. I then mounted onto some silver mirri card and placed some ribbon around the middle. Next with a piece of white card I cut a circle slightly smaller than the stag topper and coloured with the same two coloured distress inks. I then stamped and embossed with silver embossing powder and added some gems and glitter before mounting onto the card. To finish I stamped the sentiment and embossed with silver embossing powder and made a small poinsettia with an Elizabeth die. The poinsettia was made from scraps of card from my ever expanding box.

Normally this is where I say that I made 4 the same, only this time I made 5.

Butterfly Challenge

The current challenge over on the Butterfly Challenge blog is Matching Pairs and/or the colour of Orange Peel, I think I have managed both with this card. The card started of with the background which was made with an Obsession Impression cover a card stamp. I bought this stamp at the Newbury Show earlier this month, I stamped it out and coloured it in with no thoughts as to what I would do with the finished piece. I cut it down to get rid of the unfinished white bits and also to fit onto a 6x6x card base. I mounted onto some gold mirri card and found the ribbon, already tied into a bow (left over from another project that it didn't get used on) so popped that onto the bottom. The next logical step was to add a couple of butterflies, it was only then when looking at it that I realised that I had managed to fit the challenge without even trying. Just off now to join in.

Lavender and Lace

This week the challenge over on the Allsorts challenge blog is Lavender and Lace, and I'm rushing in at the end of the week with this card for the challenge. The card has a better Lavender colour in real life but for some reason I could not get a better photo than this today. I used a 6x6x card base and gold mirri card for the matting. The paper has been travelling around my worktops in my craft room for so long I can't remember where it came from anymore, only that it was free with a magazine. But it was just the right colour for the card. The lace is from my stash and the flowers left over from a recent workshop using Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies (again these were just the right shade).  The die cut circles are from Tonic and the pearl swirls from Tattered Lace.

Pixies Snippets Playground

Last week was so hectic as we looked after our Grandson all week, rather than the normal 2 days we normally do. I did start these cards at the beginning of the week and it took me a week to get them finished too. As the die cuts were cut using scraps and also the stamping was done onto scraps I'm off to join in the fun over in Pixies Snippets Playground. I used an embossing folder from Crafters Companion for the background, which I coloured using distress ink and a blending tool. The stamp and die for the image are from the new collection, Festive Holly, from Heartfelt Creations. coloured with pencils and a bit of snow added to the roof.

I managed to make two to pop into the box for that special time of year.

I'm also going to enter this card into the following challenges:
Christmas Cards All year Round - Anything Goes
Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge - Anything Goes with the option of Die Cuts

The Fairy Treehouse

When I saw the current challenge over at the Allsorts Challenge blog my first thought was my Lavinia Stamps, but then I remembered that I had this Tree house stamp and wee sets of stamps from Clarity Stamps. So I had a rummage in the cupboard and got the stamps out and made this card. The Tree house stamp comes with it's own mask so I started by stamping this first, then popping the mask over the top and then making the background. I used Clarity masks for this as well, along with Distress inks. I used stamps from the Wee Trees set, the Wee Foliage and the Wee Fairy's sets before taking the mask off  and colouring the Tree house using pencils. I used a clear sparkle pen on the fairy's wings and gold sparkle on the Tree house windows, then just a few random dots in the sky for stars using a white pen. Finally I went around the edge of the card with an embossing pen and embossed using a blue sparkle embossing powder.

18th Birthday

My card today has been made for a lovely young lady who will be 18 in a few days time. The flowers and the backing paper are from the Petunia Collection from Heartfelt Creations (I will to confess to having lots of their stamps and die sets). The card is an 8x8 base, then I used silver mirri card to mat the backing paper onto. The die cut square is from Tattered Lace and I kept the middle to stamp the sentiment onto, this was from Chocolate Baroque. I stamped and embossed the flowers with silver EB powder and then coloured using distress ink in Shaded Lilac and then Stampin Up ink in colours Perfect Plum, Pear Pizzazz and Garden Green. The flourishes are from Tattered Lace and finally the 18 Today is from All Occasion Dies.

Because of the shaping on the flowers the card needed a box to pop the card into. The cut out corners are from a Tim Holtz Sizzix die.

I'm going to enter this into the Stamping Sensations Challenge which this month is Anything With Flowers.

Christmas In July

Christmas in July is the name of the current challenge over at My Time To Craft this week. So I made a few cards that fitted the theme and that I could pop into the box for later in the year. I used an unbranded die that I bought off of ebay for the bauble and the Believe In the Magic is a Tattered Lace die. The backing papers are from Bearly Mine Designs (who are no longer trading).  Quite simple and easy to make.

I would also like to enter these into the following challenges:-
Sparkles Christmas Challenge - An Ornament
Christmas Cards All Year Round - Anything Goes.

Butterfly Challenge

Today my card is for the Butterfly Challenge which this time the theme is Key and/or Vermilion. I've managed to use both. My base card is red/vermilion and I've teamed it with some black card for matting and some Graphic 45 paper from the Times Nouveau paper pad. I added some red ribbon with some green ribbon on top with the key attached (I have a box full of these little keys, which were found in my Uncles house when we cleared it a few years ago). I found a sentiment stamp from Chocolate Baroque that matched the theme of the card, I stamped it in black onto the red card and then mounted onto black card . Finally I add a couple of die cut butterflies which I backed with adhesive card and added some glitter to finish.

2 Today

Two years ago this cheeky chap came into our lives (thanks to our daughter and son-in-law) today he turned two. I can't begin to imagine what our lives would be like now with out him in it. We have just spent a couple of busy days helping to celebrate it with him. Yesterday was a party for all of his little friends and  their mummy's and daddy's, today was quieter affair with just the family there.

This is the card that I made for him, using stamps, dies and papers from Heartfelt Creations. I used a mixture of pencils, and distress inks to colour the images before putting onto the card with glue gel.
