CD Sunday - Tassel Time

Sunday came around very quickly this week, and it time for the weekly challenge over at the CD Sunday blog. This week the challenge is Tassels. I had a bit of a problem with this as I did not have any Tassels. But I like a challenge, so I have made my own, using the Glitter Girls bow shaper.

I am in the middle of making some birthday cards that a friend has ask me for, (I'll save them for later in the week) and this topper was left over. So I decided to use it for this card. It's from Joanna Sheen's Enchanted CD. The base card is a piece of gold centura pearl, folded in half, and the backing paper put straight onto it. The backing paper is the matching one for this image. I added corners made with a Marianne Die, mounted the topper onto some matching gold centura pearl card. I used a machine embroidery thread to make the tassel, and placed at the bottom of the topper, just adding a small flower at the top of the tassel. I then just added some gems to finish.

Forgotten Friday 21 - Cute Companions Christmas

Friday, again, already!!! I can't believe how quickly it has come around. This week for the Forgotten Friday challenge I have cheated a little. While digging into the back of a cupboard this week, I came across a little box, and on further inspection I realised that it was full of stamped, coloured and cut out images from the Cute Companions Christmas collection. This was released a couple of Christmas's ago, and I made lots of cards using these cute characters that year. What I found was the extras that I didn't use. Rather than just put them in the back of the cupboard again, I thought it was just the thing for a Friday project.

For this card I wanted a square background image, so I opened the CD in MCS and cropped the part of the image that I wanted to use. Matted onto some red mirri card, and mounted onto a green card base. As they had been coloured all I had to do was decide what characters I wanted to use, and where to put them.

CD Sunday - If The Shoe Fits

This weeks challenge over at CD Sunday this week is If The Shoe Fits. As I had downloaded this wonderful shoe pattern, for a paper shoe from the Chocolate Baroque website, I just had to use it for this weeks challenge.

There's not much to say about how I made it, except that I printed out the sheet with the pattern on it and followed the instructions. The CD used was Artylicious Damask Delights, the trimming was some that I had in a box of bits, the button from a jar of buttons that were once my Grandmothers, and the ribbon from my stash.

Forgotten Friday 20 - By The Sea

I can't believe that it's time for Forgotten Friday once again, and this week Judith  has some wonderful blog candy to give away. Anyone who takes part in the Forgotten Friday Challenge stands a chance of winning. So do pop over to Poppy Cottage and join in. All you have to do is make something with your forgotten or unused stash of craft stuff , post it on your blog, leave a comment on Judith's blog, then she will come and visit you.

This week I have used this wonderful stamp from Chocolate Baroque (formally Graphicus) which was unused until now. First I stamped the topper and coloured it in using aqua pencils. I found some nice bright blue card to mount it onto. Then came the background and that I took a couple of attempts to get it right. I used the other stamps that were also on the sheet to achieve this. I stamped the Seagull onto the backing and then stamped it again onto copier paper, to create a mask, I also made masks in the same way for the clouds. next I stamped the grass clumps to define the edge of the beach. For the sand I used Memento Cantaloupe, and the sky Memento Summer Sky. For the sea I used Distress Ink in Broken China. These were put on using Cut-n-Dry foam. When doing the sea I tore along a piece of scrap paper to give uneven edge, then moving this gradually down the page as I coloured it. It has given what I hope is the effect of waves. Lastly I removed the masks to reveal the white fluffy clouds, and the Seagull which was coloured using aqua pencils.

Birthday Card- Pansy's

On Monday it is my Mother-in-laws birthday, and I get the job of making a card for my Father-in-law to give to her. I made this one using the Advanced Paper Flower Expert CD that was the Pick of the day yesterday on Create and Craft. For this card I made a large square card from 2 pieces of A4 white card. I used silver mirri card for the matting and scalloped circle. I then used one of the duo papers for the background, and re sized the pansy's so that they were not to large. When I put them together I added a little gold glitter into the centres. I found some silver corner peel offs that were nice and Lacey. The sentiment is from the MCS Papercraft Library, Paper Words, printed on a laser printer and foiled. I then added a couple of paper butterflies punched from a Martha Stewart punch.

MCS Pick Of The Day - Advanced Paper Flower Expert

Last night saw the launch of the new Advanced Paper Flower Expert from My Craft Studio. And I was lucky enough to make samples for the shows that were on last night and today. Below are the pictures of my samples that I made, the flowers are stunning and quite easy to make. I'm not going to bore you with how I made them, but if you have any questions just leave a comment and I will try to answer it.

CD Sunday - Digi Day

The CD Sunday challenge this week is Digi's, and I have used this beautiful girl from Sugar Nellie called Hope. She is just one of many beautiful images that they have available for download. I will be going back to buy some more soon.

I took the image into MCS to re size, then printed and coloured with promarkers. I then cut out the image with an oval spellbinders nestie and mounted it onto a scalloped oval also a nestie. The backing paper is from MCS Finest Filigree, in a very pale shade of blue to match the colours I have used for colouring. Then with another colour blue I used a Martha Stewart punch to make a border and placed down the side, and added a pale blue organza ribbon. I then rummaged in my flower box and found a blue flower to add, I just finished it with a couple of Marianne Dies and a leaf punch from Martha Stewart.

Forgotten Friday 19 - Flower Posy

Well Friday is here once again, and what a glorious day it is. Lets hope that it's here to stay. Of course it that time of the week when I use something that is neglected and forgotten. This week I have chosen to use this lovely spray of flowers which is an Elusive Images stamp. I'm not sure how long I've had it, but until today it was unused. 

It was stamped out using a Versafine black ink pad, and I have used water colour pencils to colour (without the water). I then used one of my big juicy ink pads to add a bit of colour around the edge.
The backing paper is from the Artylicious Fantasy Floral. I then added some faux brads and a bit of ribbon. There is no sentiment on it yet as I am unsure who I am going to sent it to, but I have a couple of birthdays this month that this will do nicely for.

CD Sunday - Say It With Scallops

We are half way through the week and I am only just posting my contribution to this weeks CD Sunday challenge. This week it's scallops. and I have decided to go with shells, these have a beautiful natural scallop shape to them. The CD I have used is Summerbreeze by Debbi Moore. I opened the CD and the took snapshots of the pages that had the images and backgrounds that I wanted to use, and then took them into MCS to crop and re size. I picked the shell shaped image and cropped it from the sheet, and re sized it so that it would fit nicely onto a 6 x 6 card, I then copied and pasted so that I had 5 layers. From another sheet I cropped and re sized a sentiment. Next I re sized the backing paper down to A5 size so that I would not loose to much if the design on it. I matted the backing paper onto some gold pearl card, and also the sentiment. After layering the image up I then added a swirl of pearls.
