Happy Christmas

Well I'm almost finished now, just the housework to do and tidy the craft room if there's time. I just wanted to wish all of my followers and visitors a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thank you for all of the wonderful comments that you have left over the past year, I really do appreciate them.

Pixie's Snippets Playground

Whoa, where has this week disappeared too? Christmas Day is rushing up too fast, I need it to slow down a little please. I still have so much to do before the big day arrives. I did find time to make this Birthday card to enter into Pixie's Snippets Playground, using some new dies from Tattered Lace. There was a CD which came with the dies , so I printed off one of the backgrounds and placed onto an A5 black card which I had gone around the edges with some blue and gold gilding wax. Next I cut out of some scraps of black card that were in the box, the Steampunk owl and cogs. Again I went over them with the same gilding waxes to give them a shine before popping them onto the card. The Happy Birthday stamp is from Chocolate Baroque from one of many sets that I have. This is now winging it's way to someone who's birthday is between Christmas Day and the New Year. No time for sitting around, must get on with some more Christmas prep.

Not A Christmas Card

I've finished my Christmas card makes for this year, so when I saw the current challenge over on the Butterfly Challenge blog this month, which is All Kinds Of Fairies, Elves, Gnomes and Pixies, I thought I would make something and join in. I've not taken part in this challenge before, I can't think why not, because I love butterflies and make quite a few cards featuring them. Anyway this morning after Hubby took our grandson off to visit his Great Granddad I got the inks and stamps out and made this card. All of the stamps I've used are from Lavinia and the background has been created using good old Distress Inks. Time to clear everything up now before they come home and want to know where lunch is.

I would also like to enter this card into the Fashionable Stamping Challenge, which at the moment is Anything Goes.

Pixie's Snippets Playground

Wow, where has the last week gone to, it's just flown by. I had cards to post but not enough time to post them. After the rushing around during the week I spent yesterday making 12 gift boxes. Earlier this year I bought a gift box die from Tattered Lace with the intention of making these boxes for Christmas day. I've made 6 green and 6 red and then alternated the colours for the matting (also cut out of the box dies). All of the gold embellishments and gold matting were cut from scraps from my box (I was able to use up loads of the silly little bits around the top of the box, the bits I just can't bear to throw away) and then backed the parcel and bauble dies with the off cuts from the main boxes. The images are all from Joanna Sheen's Hollypondhill CD, I took the images into MCS and re-sized them to fit. Now the only thing left to do now is to fill them. And of course enter them into the challenge over at Pixies Snippets Playground.

Pixie's Snippets Playground

I didn't think that I would have time to make anything for Pixies Snippets Playground this week, but I finished the washing earlier than I expected (still have the ironing to tackle yet) so I had a quick rummage in the box and soon found a piece of black card and a piece of white linen card. I knew that I had this die handy so set about making this quick and easy card. I cut out the die with the black card and with the white I blended some distress inks in orange hues, trying to recapture the warmth of last week. I drew around the outside of the die and cut around the inside of the pencil line to fit the background behind the die, this was mounted onto a 6x6 card base. The stamp comes from Chocolate Baroque and the Die from Lavinia Stamps.

Below is a group photo of all but one of us on the family holiday, eight of us from the UK and twelve from Canada. This was Tulum Mexico.

Allsorts Challenge - Anything Christmas

Wow, what a shock to my system this cold weather is, I've been sunning myself in 25c or above in Mexico for the last week. We arrived home yesterday morning with the announcement on the plane that "the good news was the sun was shinning the bad news was it was -1c". I have finished the washing and had to post this card now so that I would be in time to take part in the Allsorts Challenge which closes tomorrow. I've used Tattered Lace Charisma Robin Redbreast for this card along with some Christmas Tree tuck ins and Holly dies cut in gold mirri card, also from Tattered lace. The backing papers are from My Craft Studio from one of the Christmas CD's

Just a quick post for now as I have dinner to cook, something I've not had to do for over a week.

Allsorts and Pixie's Snippets Playground

I've managed to cover two challenges with one card today, Allsorts Challenge which this week is O Christmas Tree and Pixie's Snippets Playground which is to use snippets/scraps on your card. The stamp I used was from Chocolate Baroque, Gift Of Christmas stamp set with the sentiment coming from The Family Christmas set. It was stamped using Black Onyx and coloured using pro markers, I then added some gems and gold sparkle pen and inked around the card using Worn Lipstick and Shabby Shutters Distress Inks. The green card and Red card were from my larger scraps box. I am going to be very quiet for the next week or so as we are off to the warms climate of Mexico with my Daughter, Son-in-law and Grandson. My Son-in-law comes from quite a large family and they have reunions quite regularly, we have been lucky enough to be invited to join them. I hope to catch up with everyone's blog when we return at the end of the month.

Turkey Anyone?

I realised this morning that the card that I posted yesterday I also meant to link into the Stamping Sensations Challenge as well. As I had forgotten I made this one to enter instead (that's the good thing about Christmas cards, you can never have to many). I bought this stamp in a set earlier this year after seeing them on TV, they are from Hobby Art, I had popped them into the cupboard and almost forgot about them.  I stamped the image in Onyx Black and then coloured using pro markers, mounted onto some green card stock then onto a 5x5 card base. I love the sentiment that came with this stamp set too, the C word must have every Turkey in the land quaking at the moment.

Feature A Creature

The challenge over on the Allsorts Challenge blog this week is Feature A Creature. Today I found time to get my Lavinia stamps out and make this card for the challenge. I started with a 13 x13 cm piece of card and dust all over using Stormy Sky DI, then stamped, using the same colour ink pad, the moon in the top right hand corner. I then masked the moon and added more ink with brushes. Next using a mask I placed some hills building up the same colour blue. I then stamped  the badger, trees and sentiment using Black Onyx ink. I then went around the outside using a blending tool first with Stormy Sky and then with Faded Jeans DI's and then finally I flicked some watered down white acrylic paint to create the snow. I then mounted the finished piece onto some navy card before putting it onto a 5x5 card base.

One Card Two Challenges

Time for a new challenge over at Pixie's Snippet's Playground and this card also covers the current Challenge over at Stamping Sensations. Yesterday while the weather was terrible outside it was just right for giving my craft room a bit of a clear up (I had got to the stage where every surface was covered). While clearing up and making room in the cupboards I found a box full of larger sized offcuts and a box full of flowers and leaves stamped and cut ready to use. This card was the result of using only stuff from these two boxes, with the exception of the card base and the pearls. The Poinsettia and leaves are from Heartfelt Creations and were sat in the bottom of the box already stamped and embossed just begging to be used, all I had to do was ink around the edges of the flowers and leaves. The Winter Wishes was cut earlier at the beginning of the Autumn, (from a Tattered Lace die) also from off cuts of mirri card. The backing paper was some that I printed out a couple of years ago and set aside then not used. the gold mirri matting was from some that I had gutted from a larger project and the green matting was out of the box of larger offcuts, I'm not sure what I used the other part for. I have enough flowers and leaves left to make another couple of cards similar to this one, only I'll have to cut into some new mirri card for these.

Workshop Results

I've had a busy few days, starting with a trip around the M25 to one of Eileen Godwin's monthly workshops on Saturday. A great day was had by all and we came away with a small collection of cards and a couple of technique tags. Last month I was unable to make the workshop as I was ill, but the ladies made Tag covers for their technique tags, something that Eileen is going to be building on during the next year. I will have to wing it and make mine at home. After the weekend I had my grandson for my normal two days and yesterday I went to London with my Grandson's godmother and saw the Bodyguard, a wonderful show staring the wonderful Beverley Knight and Ben Richards. It's back to reality with a bang today with washing and ironing to do and hopefully some time in the craft room. Below are the cards and tags that I made at the workshops, I'm not going to go into details how they were made as that would be unfair on Eileen.

Pixies Snippets Playground.

Time again to visit Pixies Snippets Playground and this week I have a card that was a request from my Sister. Its an 8x8 card base and the image is a Lili Of The Valley stamp (one from the bundle that my friend got for from the Car Boot Sale), stamped in Black Onyx and coloured with pencils. I then cut out the image using a Spellbinders die and cut another using a fancy edged die also from Spellbinders. I printed the backing papers from  a Sue Smith CD that I've had for years and used a fuchsia coloured card stock for the matting and corners. The ribbon is some that I've had in my stash for sometime and this was the last of it. The flowers have been made using Tattered Lace trio dies and some white card off cuts from my scraps box, I just went around the outside of the petals with a pink blending sponge. The fern is also a Tattered Lace die and also used some more off cuts from the scraps box.

As well as entering this into the challenge over at Pixies Snippets Corner, I would also like to enter this into the current challenge over at Artistic Inspirations which is Anything Goes.

Father Christmas

The current challenge over on the CD Sunday blog at the moment is Father Christmas. As soon as I saw this challenge it had me reaching for Debbi Moore's Santa Clause 3 CD. It's taken me all week to get it made but here is my card for the challenge. I started with an 8x8 card base and printed off this wonderful Father Christmas to decoupage, he hangs over the edge of the card slightly, but I don't mind that. After matting the backing paper onto some gold mirri card and placing the decoupage on top I look around for some embellishments to add. These parcels are some that I cut out of some scraps last year from a Tonic die and didn't get around to using, so I added some of these. Finally I added the Seasons Greetings which was cut out from a scrap of red mirri card using a Britannia Die.

Allsorts Challenge

This week the challenge over at the Allsorts Challenge blog is Let's Make A Start On Christmas. This is something that I have been doing since the beginning of the year, but there is still room for more. For my card I have used stamps and dies from Sue Wilson by Creative Expressions, which I bought at Ally Pally in September. I stamped onto some white card stock with Memento ink and then cut out and coloured the images using pro markers. Next I cut a square of white card and stamped a branch onto the card using Gathered Twigs distress inks. I then mounted onto some red and green card stock and finally onto a 7x7 white card base, then mounted the flowers and holly with glue gel. Finally I added the Merry Christmas which was a Crafters Companion die from the Traditional Christmas collection.

I am also entering this into the Perfectly Created Chaos challenge which at the moment is Anything Goes.

Pixies Snippets Playground

Sunday came around quickly again and it's time to go over to Pixies Snippets Playground. Last weekend I ordered this gorgeous set of Dies by Tattered Lace and when they dropped through the door on Thursday I was itching to play with them. I had to wait until the weekend as we had our Grandson for the whole week instead of the normal Monday and Tuesday. But it was worth the wait and yesterday I enjoyed the rummage through the scraps box to see what I could use on this card. I used a brand new piece of card for the base but everything else came out of the scraps box. The two glamorous ladies were coloured using pro markers. All I need to do now is make an A5 envelope to put the card into and it's ready for our great niece's birthday next month..

Rudolph Days

As it's the 25th of the month today it's time for the Rudolph Days Challenge. I missed taking part last month as I was away and I shall be away next month in Mexico and will miss it again. My card today has been made using another Create A Card die from Crafters Companion, also bought at Ally Pally. I cut it out using black card stock and then used gilding wax over the top, I love the effect that the gilding wax gives on the black card. The backing paper is from a paper pad also from Crafters Companion, I put this behind the die cut image and then mounted onto mirri card before putting onto a white 6x6 card base.

Needless to say I did not stop at just one card, I made a small batch but used different colours of gilding wax for each one.

Pixies Snippets Playground

It's Sunday again, so time to go and play in Pixies Snippets Playground. While I was Ally Pally in September I bought the die that I've used for this card. It's a Crafters Companion Create A Card Die and I must say it's perfect for using up those scraps of mirri card that we all seem to get left with. I cut the die first with some Silver mirri card and matted onto the backing paper and a 6x6 card base. Then I rummaged through the scraps and found the small pieces of mirri and just placed them over the baubles that I wanted to cut out, then stuck over the top of the silver. The sentiment is one that I've had for a few years and I think it is a Britannia die.

I would also like to enter this into Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge which is use a sentiment.

Sparkle and Shine With Allsorts

While visiting a couple of blogs this morning I saw that the challenge over on the Allsorts Challenge blog was Sparkle and Shine. So I decided that I would have a play and make something for the challenge. I rummaged around in my stack of stencils and found this one from Imagination Crafts of Snowflakes, then discovered that I did not have the colour that I wanted in sparkle paste. Not to be put off I found some pearlescent texture paste and used this through the stencil onto a patterned background, once I took the stencil off I sprinkled iridescent glitter over the top. When it was dry I matted onto some silver mirri card and then onto a pearelscent 7x7 card base and added a sentiment from Tonic dies.

I would also like to enter this into the Perfectly Created Chaos challenge which is Anything Goes.

Red Roses

I made this card a couple of weeks ago and just didn't get around to posting it on here. It was the card that I made for my Father-in-law to give to my Daughter on her birthday. The Rose stamp is from Chocolate Baroque and coloured with pro marker  pens, I then cut it out using a spellbinders die and added some distress inks around the edge before popping it onto a doily die cut from Tattered Lace. The Embossed background was a Crafters Companion embossing folder and the Happy Birthday is a All Occasions die which has been placed on top of a smaller version of the doily that the rose is on. The ribbon is some that I've had in my stash for a couple of years now. I used some Silver mirri card for the matting and an 8x8 black card base.

Pixies Snippets Playground

Wow, I can't believe how fast the last week whizzed by, it's time again for another trip to Pixies Snippets Playground. My card this week uses and A6 card base from the cupboard and an image that I stamped a few weeks ago with  Lily of the Valley stamps that a friend bought at a boot sale for me. Then in the scraps box I found the scalloped oval that had been cut in Centura card (I don't know how long ago) and a piece of backing paper, which I think was from a paper pad from Crafter's Companion. I finished by using a stamp that came with a set that they were handing out on the Hochanda stand at Ally Pally in September

Autumn At Stamping Sensations

This months challenge over at Stamping Sensations is Autumn and I could not resist using this gorgeous Lavinia Autumn Fall Fairy stamp for my card. I started with a piece of linen card stock and sprayed with Dylusion sprays in red, orange and yellow. When it was dry I cut the card to the size I needed for the 6x6 card base then I stamped the fairy into the middle of the card with Versafine black onyx ink. I then went around the outside of the card with the  Lavinia maple leaf stamp in various Autumnal colours. I finished by just adding a few dots in a white pen on the more open areas of the card.

Pixies Snippets Playground

Time again for Pixies Snippets Playground and my card this week has been made with a brand new snippet (I will probably post the card that I made with the main piece here tomorrow). It was made using a small piece that was left over from another card where I created a background using Dylusion sprays. For this card I over stamped with a couple of stamps from Chocolate Baroque and then coloured with some pencils. The sentiment is also from Chocolate Baroque and one of my favourites for this time of year.

Perfectly Created Chaos Challenge 3

Time for the third Perfectly Created Chaos Challenge, I was very lucky to have my card in first challenge chosen in the top three. I was away for the last/second challenge but I'm ready for the third. This time Dori is asking that we have three of something on our cards, this could be three of anything, buttons, ribbons, I've gone for flowers. I started with a piece of linen effect card which I sprayed with Dylusion sprays. When dry I used a stencil and some slightly darker ink and inked through onto the sprayed background. I then stamped the Tim Holtz butterfly onto some white card stack and coloured with some matching pro markers cutting it out when finished. The sentiment is from the same stamp set as the butterfly, I mounted this and the background onto some gold mirri card and then onto a matching 8x8 card base. Before finally placing the butterfly I added some gold leaves cut with a Tattered Lace die and also some flowers also cut and embossed using Tattered Lace dies, these I finished by blending some lighter ink onto the flowers and adding some gems to the centres.

Pixies Snippets Playground

Tuesday already and I am only just posting this card for the Challenge over at Pixies Snippets Playground. Last week I was in Cornwall, where hubby and our son were spending the week fishing. Unfortunately we had rain everyday, sometimes only a shower, but it still rained daily, not so good when you have a 14 month old child with you as well. But still it was a break and of course we had gorgeous Cornish pasties too. Anyway enough of that, inspired by the fact that it is our 36th Wedding Anniversary today, while looking through the scraps box I came across this gorgeous photo. I printed it a couple of months ago for another project, but it was a little larger that I needed, so rather than throw it away it made it to the box. Along with some gold linen card where there was just enough to matt the image and cut out the Happy Anniversary. I found some small bits of white that had not quite made it to the bin and with one of my Crealies flower dies I cut the smallest flower  three times and distressed the edges with some spiced marmalade and popped some gems into the middle after adding then to the card. The only thing that did not come out of the scrap box was the card base itself which is a 5x5 size.

Gingerbread Terrace

Just a quick post from me today as we are off to Cornwall for a week tomorrow morning, but I wanted to share these gorgeous little gingerbread houses with you before I went. I saw the die from Tonic and fell in love with it when it was on C and C, but ordered it from Crafty Devils where it was not available until this week. When it popped through the letterbox on Monday morning I was itching to get it cut out, but as we look after our Grandson at the beginning of the week had to wait until yesterday. I finally got them finished last night. They were a little awkward to put together to start with and the first one remains undecorated but the next four were much easier and made it through to the end. I've left the bottom unstuck so that they can have chocolate put into them for Christmas. I thought they would look great on the tree. I'll be round to catch up with what everyone has been doing after next weekend.

 Below, close up.

Perfectly Created Chaos

There is a new challenge on the block over on the Perfectly Created Chaos blog hosted by Dori. This is my second entry into the challenge, my last one being 21 Again. For this card I have used From Land To Sea by Stampin Up, I started by colouring my white card with blue distress ink then in the same colour over stamping with two of the stamps from the set, the ships wheel and the tentacles from the jelly fish. Then in black I stamped two turtles and coloured these using a couple of shades of green pencils. I then added the sentiment in the corner and then ran the black ink pad around the outside edge of the page before mounting onto a 6x6 card blank.

Pixies Snippets Playground

Sunday again and time for another trip to Pixie's Snippets Playground. I spent the day at Ally Pally yesterday and when I got home I found that the latest Tattered Lace magazine had landed on my door mat, with a beautiful die on the front of it. It was calling out to be cut out so after a rummage through the scraps box this is the card that I made. I used a little distress ink on the image to give it some colour and added some gems to two of the corners to finish. I'm loving this challenge as it helps me use up some of my ever growing stash of scraps, but I think maybe I put more into the box during the week than I use at the weekend making a card to join in. Normally at this point I would preview this post before publishing, but for some reason Norton has decided that the preview page is dangerous. So I'm just going to take a chance that this is fine.

21 Again

My post today is another of the four 21st Birthday cards that I had to make recently, this one from Mum to Daughter. I've used Lavinia stamps for this one with  Mustard Seed and Worn Lipstick distress inks for the background. The poppy pods were coloured using a distress pen in Ripe Persimmon and then a Wink of Stella over the top and also on the wings. The flowers were made using Tattered Lace duo folders and dies, coloured with the same distress inks as the background and I coloured the gems to match. I would also like to enter this card into the new challenge that has started over on the Perfectly Created Chaos blog which is Stamp It. Do pop over and take a look and maybe even join in too it runs until the 20th September.

More Workshop Makes

I'm a little late posting these, but last Saturday saw me up early and off around the M25 to Kent again to another of Eileen's super workshops. This time canvases were on the agenda for the day. We started with the small one at the bottom, this one involved a lot of acrylic paint, some stamps and a little paste. The second (which I will admit to this one being my favourite) larger canvas at the top was made using the bleeding tissue technique. I had never tried this before and will admit I came home and ordered some of this tissue right away. As well as the tissue we used a little white acrylic paint, some stamps and the gorgeous large Daisy stencil by Designs by Georgina with black Archival ink.

The top canvas has been mounted onto some white mount board, I still have to mount the bottom one.

Snippets Time Again

After all the lovely weather we have been having lately, yesterday certainly let us know that there is still some rain there. A perfect day for crafting, which is exactly what I did do with 3 friends. We are all Stampin Up demonstrators (although I do it just for myself) so we got together with stamp sets from the current catalogue and just played. My card today is the result of this play, I have used stamps from three different sets to achieve this card. I used the mountains from In The Meadow, the beehive from Shooting Star (this I made into an igloo by covering with glitter) and lastly the wonderful Eskimo from the Cookie Cutter Christmas set. As I used scraps for the Igloo and the Eskimo I can enter this into this weeks Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge.

Pixie's Snippets Playground

I was so lucky and won a this gorgeous embossing folder from Pixies Snippets last week. So when it landed on my mat earlier this week I knew that I need to have a play with it for this weeks challenge. With snippets from my huge box of off cuts I found two matching pieces of card and embossed both, I then cut the bottom of the design off and working with the the top two pieces I stuck them to a piece of black card (also from the box). One piece had to be turned upside down but the fitted perfectly together leaving a small space between the two. I filled the space with flat backed pearls in matching colours, added a small butterfly cut from a small off cut (I wondered why I had saved this when it fell out of the box, but it was just the right size for the butterfly). To finish I popped this onto a white card base and stamped the sentiment that came with the embossing folder onto some white card and mounted it onto some black. I'm not a very pink person but I think these two pinks together look good.

One For The Boys at Stamping Sensations

I was lucky enough to have my card picked as the winner for the July challenge over on Stamping Sensations. So I have been asked to be the Guest on this months challenge which is One For The Boys. For my card I have used Stampin Up's One Wild Ride, it was made with my son in mind as he loves motorbikes and has owned 3-4 so far. I started by making the wood grain effect background (tutorial can be found here), then when it was dry I over stamped using some of the background stamps from the set. I over stamped the base card, again using the background stamps from the set then stamped the bike and the sentiment and embossed with black embossing powder. I cut out the image and the sentiment and lightly dusted with my ink dusters with a matching ink. The ladies on the DT have made some beautiful cards for your inspiration this month I do hope that you will pop over and take a look.

NBUS Challenge 7

My card today is made for the NBUS challenge (never before used schtuff) and boy have I got a lot of NBUS. I'm sure that you my fellow crafter's can relate to that. Last year I bought the The Essential Book Die from Tattered Lace, and I put it into the cupboard and there it has sat until now. I was asked if I would make four 21st birthday cards for the same person for the middle of September. So I have made this one for her grand parents to give to her, I'm quite safe posting it on here as I know they don't read my blog. I started by picking a CD that I had bought earlier this year and not used yet, so this also goes towards my NBUS, the CD is Daisydays by Polkadoddles. I started by using some linen card stock and printed off 3 of the different backgrounds and also used a sheet of silver linen card stock. I printed the last one a lot lighter than the rest, as I wanted to print the verse onto it (I did this before I cut out the pages). I then took the 4 largest dies and cut out the pages, I then scored them down the middle and gave them a little bend. next I wrapped the pages around my rolling pin to give them some shape. I popped a couple of pieces of ribbon around the top two pages and made a bow to stick on the top, then decorated the ribbon with some matching flat backed pearls. Lastly I printed of some of the daisy embellishments from the CD and decorated the left hand page. All that is left to do now is to make a stand for the card.

Well that's one down only another 3 to make now, from Uncle, Brother and Mum.
Thank you for taking the time to look and your kind comments which are always appreciated.

Snippets Challenge

I'm feeling very fortunate today as when I popped onto Pixie's Snippet's Playground this morning, I found that I was one of 6 lucky people to have won a wonderful embossing folder from last weeks challenge. Anyway before we went out and met up with my SIL for lunch I had a rummage in the scrap box and found everything to make this card (for this weeks challenge) with the exception of the card base, flower and pearl these all came from my stash. I used the free die that came with a Crafter's Companion magazine earlier this year to cut up the printed papers that were left over from cards that were made ages ago and the pink card from the scrap box. I have a friend that quilts so this card was made with her in mind.

Rudolph Days

Wow the months are certainly whizzing by, I can't believe that we are almost at the end of August already. My cards below are made for the Rudolph Days challenge using some Lili Of The Valley stamps. These were a gift from a friend who had visited a Car Boot sale, saw these and bought them for me. There are about 20 stamps in all, many never used. About half of the stamps are Christmas stamps, so they were the perfect choice to use this month.

I've used small square card bases for the cards and backing papers from  Crafters Companion snowman CD for the top 3 cards. The stamped images were coloured with pencils.

I used a spellbinders die to cut the images, then drew around the same die and cut out by hand for the matting. All of the sentiments are made using Lili Of The Valley stamps from my stash and these are also mounted on a spellbinders shape.

For this bottom card I used a sheet of paper from a Bebunni  paper pad also by Crafters Companion. I also cut this image out using a Nellie Snellen die. The small poinsettia flowers are made using a Marianne die set.

As I made 2 cards using each image I have another 8 cards to add to my stash.

Snippets Challenge

What wonderful weather we're having at the moment, so go on laugh I've made a Christmas card. I thought that I would cut out some embellishments with my scraps today and while hunting around I found a little pile of 5x5 pieces of paper that were off cuts from larger A4 sheets. These had been left over from previous projects at some time or another and then just left. At one stage I cut them down to 5x5 size and again abandoned them. A lot of them are Christmas pieces so that is why I made a Christmas card for Pixie's Snippet's Challenge. The green card base is from my stash but the rest of it all came out of the scrap box including the ribbon which was around last years Christmas cake and far to good to throw away. The dies used are Tattered Lace, the snowman from this years collection and the holly from last years. Sorry I can't remember the name of the CD that the paper came from, as it was so long ago that I printed it off.

I shall be back tomorrow with my offering for the Rudolph days Challenge (more Christmas cards).

A New Forest Wedding

My sister has just been to a wedding that was held in the New Forest. So when she asked me to make a card for her this gorgeous image from Lili Of The Valley was what popped into my head. I stamped onto white card and coloured using Spectrum Noir pencils, giving the veil a touch of Wink Of Stella. I then cut the image out using a Spellbinders die and another to back it onto. The corners were cut with a Crealies die as were the flowers. I created the sentiment on my PC and printed on a laser printer then put it through the laminator with some silver foil. I know my sister was pleased with the end result, hopefully the bride and groom were too.

I would like to enter this into the Stamping Sensations challenge this month which is Anything Goes.
Last month I was lucky enough to win the fantastic prize of ribbons and embellishments. The photo did not do the prize justice.

The Butterfly Tree

I was inspired by the resent workshop and the use of home made stencil paste to have a go at this butterfly tree. The stencil is from Sweet Poppy Stencil's and the paste give a wonderful crackle effect which when coloured with pro markers really shows the cracks. I started by making a background with pan pastels, then by placing the tree onto it. When dry I stamped the flowers using two Lavinia stamps before colouring the butterflies and the tree. I added some dots of crystal stickles to finish. I'm not sure who will receive this, so as yet there is no sentiment.

Another Snippets Card

I thought I would make another card this week to enter the Pixies Snippet  Playground Challenge, so after rummaging through my scraps I found I had an already embossed (in white) image of the gorgeous swallowtail butterfly from Stampin Up. Along with the butterfly there was some deep pink card and a DL card with a top hinge (this was made from some left over card from another project, where I used an A3 sheet of card). So matching the inks to the card I inked the butterfly using the resist technique, then added the sentiment using the deeper of the inks used and some Chocolate Baroque sentiment stamps.

Thank you Di for the warm welcome you gave me when I joined in for the first time last week. My scraps are still over flowing so I expect to be back often.
