Happy New Year

Well I'm a bit late with the New Year Greetings with this blog post, but the New Year wasn't quite so good for us. New Year's eve my Father-in-law took a tumble at my Sister-in-law's (he was staying there for the New Year) this resulted in him breaking his hip and having to have a hip replacement done on New Year's Day. Everything went well with the op but as FIL is 90 in May it taken it's toll on him a bit. Two days later and now my Sister-In-law is in Hospital too with Kidney Stones. Hubby doesn't know which way is up at the moment.  Anyway onto my post today, after going to a workshop back in September when we cover a note book, I decided at the time that if I bought some inexpensive A5 diary's and covered them, that they would make good gifts for Christmas. I ended up covering 16 Diary's, 5 notebooks and 3 little journals (the journals were for 3 super little ladies). All were a big hit and I've had nothing but great feedback from all who received them. This is something I think I'll be doing again.

I'm entering this into the More Mixed Media challenge, which at the moment is anything goes and the option of blue. Think this covers everything.
I'm also going to pop over to Pixies Snippets Playground as I used some left over cardboard scraps on the front as well as making the 2018 out of scraps too. There's also a scrap of lace in there somewhere.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today and your kind comments which are always appreciated.

Wonderful Sue - no wonder they were so popular! And gosh, what a time with family members and illness. Here's hoping they make good recoveries.

Happy New Year Sue. I’m sorry to hear of the troubles that you’ve had over the New Year and I wish both of your family members well. I love your project and I had intended to do something like this myself but I just didn’t get round to it unfortunately. You take care and I wish you a very happy and creative 2018. Crafty hugs, Sandra x

Oh dear Sue, not the best of starts to the New Year and can sympathise with your SIL as a year on still in and our of hospital with them, one dodgy kidney isn't helping either.

But your creation today is beautiful.

I'm not surprised these were so well received Sue, this one is beautiful!

Sorry your New Year has been so topsy turvy and I do hope your Father in Law recovers well. It is very worrying at that age. I can definitely sympathise with your poor Sister in Law as I had a kidney stone once. Luckily my body got rid of mine by itself but I had a trip to A&E and a short admission to a ward first. I was amazed at the amount of pain something invisible to my eye could cause. It was agonising!

Hope things start to pick up for you and yours.....and thank you for your lovely comment on my blog. I have been such a bad blogger in recent months but do want to try and get back into the habit again this year if possible.

Oh dear Sue .. .. it sounds like your family are keeping the hospital busy between them.

I hope both are progressing well and are being looked after well.

Loving your covered books. They look amazing. So much texture. No wonder everyone who received one was over the moon with them!

All the best for 2018 Sue, I hope things start to improve quickly!!

Lovely project Sue. Even though I don't do 'messy' I can still admire.
I hope Steve's family are all better soon. Not a good start to the New Year.
Is it too late to wish you both a HNY?

What a beautiful project Sue. I can see why they were so gratefully received. I'm very sorry to hear about your Father in Law's fall and your Sister in Law's kidney stones. Certainly not a good start to the year. What a great worry for you all. I hope they will both soon be on the road to recovery. We've not had a food start either. Barbxx

Hi Sue, Sorry I am so late with my comments but I'm playing catch-up after all sorts of non-crafty issues needing my attention. Reading your more recent posts it sounds as though life is still throwing quite a lot your way too! Hope health issues are resolved quickly for your family and that you have a more tranquil time soon. On to crafty things - I love the idea of your diaries and the mixed media effect on your sample is quite stunning. Great finished project! x Anne
