Forgotten And New

I've called this post Forgotten and New, as it covers two challenges - Forgotten Friday and Technique Tuesday. You know what it's like when you see something , and think to yourself, I'll have a go at that, Well some time ago I saw a technique (I think it was in a magazine) which involved you making your own ink pad, using baby wipes and re inkers. It sat in the back of my head and somehow got forgotten, that is until I saw the challenge on the Technique Tuesday blog (for instructions on how to do this, pop over to the blog and take a look).

First I set up an acrylic block and my baby wipes, then added my re inkers, for this I used distress inks in Fired Brick, Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade. Next using some stamps from Chocolate Baroque that I've had for some time and until today remained uninked, so qualifying for Forgotten Friday, I stamped onto some white card stock two of the flowers both the same design but different sizes. When they were dry I cut them out. While I was waiting for them to dry, I used the baby wipes which were now soaked with the reinkers, and tapped them onto my glass cutting mat, spritzed with some water and made some backgrounds. Once I'd cut the flowers out I added some gems, from a sheet of different sized gems, in slightly different shades of golds and browns, to the centres. From one of the backgrounds I'd made, I punched a couple of Martha Stewart butterflies, and added some gems to these as well. I had a background left over from the other day which I though went quite well with the flowers and I stamped the foliage stamp from the same set of floral stamps around the edge in Peeled Paint distress ink. Then I went around the edge with Blue Sapphire and Fired Brick distress inks. I then put the background onto a cream card base, I added a sentiment and attached the flowers, and butterflies.

Thank you for taking the time to look. Your kind comments are always appreciated.

I just love what you've done for this card and it's a technique I've not tried as yet so will have to check out my re-inkers to see if I have any suitable colours. Such a pretty card as a result of your experiments - love it.

This is a lovely card Sue, the colours are stunning, the oranges set against that bluey background are gorgeous. You have used my favourite CB sentiment, I love that one. It's a great technique that you have used, and then to use the leftovers as well to make more backgrounds is very useful. I'll have to check out Technique Tuesday, not that I have time! However, I really like what you've done here, so that's a good enough excuse to take a look methinks.

Thanks so much for joining in Forgotten Friday this week, as always, I really appreciate it, Judith xx
