My First Ever Quilt

I have always sewn since I was a small child. Making clothes for my dolls and then later for myself and for my children. I have three embroidery machines but I had never made a quilt before. On a recent clear out I came across my fabric stash and I actually had quite a lot of cotton quilting fabric left over from a previous project of making bags and clowns that sat in hoops. It just so happens that my daughters Mother-in-law is a quilter, so recently we started to get together just one morning a week and this is the result, my first ever quilt. It was made out of 2 1/2 inch strips and 2 1/2 inch squares between each different fabric. I'm really enjoying getting back into some sewing again after a long break and have already cut out the fabric for my next quilt. The fabrics I'm using are the same as these with a couple of new ones that I bought. I would also like to enter this into the River Of Creativity Challenge, which is No Cards with the option of recycled.

This will not mean that 'm giving up everything else, just something to do along with everything else. thanks for taking the time to look and your kind comments which are always appreciated.

Sue

Beautiful Sue and like the design with the strips. One of my DIL's is an avid quilter, she always cuts small hexies which look so much work and only ever used Liberty fabric, so spends a fortune.

This is a great quilt with the random strips and dark contrast squares. Always nice to have a wide variety of crafty projects and techniques to call on as the mood takes you. Also helps if you have a house full of miscellaneous 'stuff' 😉😉
