Using A Die

I subscribe to The Tattered Lace Magazine and have done since they started the subscriptions. Every month I receive the magazine and a Die along with papers to match. The die on this card was on the front of the November issue of the magazine and was just too nice not to use straight away. So I made three identical, very simple A6 cards and used two layers of the die cut images on the front. It just so happens that the Allsorts Challenge blog this week are asking that you use Die Cuts on your cards. So I am going to pop along and join in the fun.

October Rudolph Days

Wow what a year and its flying past so quickly too. Well it's the 25th of the month again and time for another Rudolph Days Challenge. Only one more to go this year. As normal Maureen has a wonderful prize for the person chosen at random but you have to be in it to win it.

My cards this month were made with Carnation Craft's Dies and I will admit to casing the idea of popping a scene into the middle from someone on Facebook. Unfortunately I can't remember the ladies name and was unable to find it again to give her credit. But if it's you and you are reading this thank you for the great idea. I used Joanna Sheens CD of Thomas Kinkade, I'm sure that you'll agree that they go together so well. I really enjoyed building up the decoupage on these cards too. I made two of each of the designs this time but I'm sure that I'll be making more. Even if it's for next year rather than this one. I do hope that you can pop across and join in the fun this month at the Rudolph Days Challenge.

Embellish It

Well it's been super busy around here the last couple of weeks. Between clearing Father-in-law's house, making the Orders of Service for the funeral and the Birthday cards that are needed to be made there is hardly time to draw breath. This is one card that I did make, for our Daughters Birthday last weekend. I used the Carnation Crafts Above the Clouds Collection and the beautiful Butterfly. I also used the gorgeous Flourished Floral to embellish the bottom of the stand which was a limited addition die from Carnation Crafts. The sentiment is from Robert Addams. I'm glad to say that she loved it. I'm going to join in the Challenge at Allsorts this week which is Embellish It and also CD Sunday which is Anything Goes.

September Rudolph Days

I must apologise for being so late with this post for this Month’s Rudolph Days Challenge. After a bad start to this year with the passing of my Mother who had just celebrated her 90th Birthday, this week my Father-in-law passed away aged 93. I know they were both a great age and these thing are expected at sometime but it does not make it any easier. So having just finished clearing and selling my Mothers house and finally getting all the bits that I bought home put away, we are having to do it all over again.

Any way onto this Month’s Rudolph Days Challenge, Maureen has a wonderful prize for the person who will be picked at random, anything goes as long as it’s Christmas so you have nothing to lose by joining in. For my cards this month I have used just one set of Pink Ink stamps and I really enjoyed colouring them in with my pencils. I made 12 cards altogether, 4 in each design. Please pop over and take a look at the wonderful cards that my fellow teamies have made for your inspiration.

The Last 50th Birthday Card

Two days on the trot, I won't be able to keep it up though. I'm back to share the last of the 50th Birthday cards that I had to make. Again I used Carnation Crafts Dies but I can't remember the collection name that these shoes came from. The backing paper was a patterned one from Carnation Crafts but it doesn't show up the photo. I then printed the shoes onto glossy photo paper and decoupaged them both. The numbers and words are also from Carnation Crafts. When I had finished I added a some gems from my stash. I just wish I could still walk in shoes like these but I think I would break my neck these days.

Again I'm going to pop across to CD Sunday and join in the fun.

Yet Another 50th Birthday Card

Just popping in today to show yet another of the 50th Birthday cards that I had to make recently. This time I used Carnation Crafts Natures Grace Collection that was released earlier this year. I glad to say that all of the cards were loved. I been busy the last few days trying to make some sense of my rather messy craft room. I think the lesson to be learnt is not to let it get in such a mess again, it's going to take another week or so before I have it all sorted.

I'm going to join in the fun over at CD Sunday this week which is Anything goes.

Another 50th Birthday Card

What a bad blogger I've become, I really must try harder to get stuff posted. Today I have another of the 50th Birthday cards that I had to make. Today is the recipient's birthday and I hope she is having a lovely day with her family. For this card I used Debbi Moore's Summer Moments CD, The lady was decoupaged and I used one of the scenes from the CD as a backdrop. The flowers are from Phil Martin Dies and cut out from a backing paper from the CD then edged with distress inks and the 50 was cut from a Tattered Lace die set.  The challenge at the moment over at Allsorts is Anything Goes so I thought I would go and join in the fun.

Hello

Sometimes you just need a card to send with a little note and that's how this card came about. I used 2 Sheena stamps for this card, the first was the Robin sitting on the blossom buds and the second was open blossom on another stamp. However I have only used the corner of that stamp. I then coloured with pencils and went around the outside. We were lucky to have a Robin nest in our garden this year, and it was lovely to watch the chick fledge. It done this over a couple of evenings, the first it was on our path for a long time before flying back to the nest, then the next evening while watch TV with the patio doors open it flew into our lounge and landed on a picture frame. After doing a lap of the living room it found its way back out of the door into the garden.  I think that's why I chose to use this stamp, because it reminded me of the baby Robin. I'm taking this card to join in with a few challenges, first is Allsorts who would like anything Feminine, Stamping Sensations who would like anything For a Lady. Next Chocolate Baroque who would like Beautiful Blooms and finally River of Creativity who want No Hearts or Mushy Stuff. I'm also going to pop over to Try It On Tuesday who want Feathered Friends.

June Rudolph Days

I can't believe how fast this year is flying by and that we are half way through the year already. Dare I say it, just 6 months until Christmas? Anyway onto the reason why I'm here today and that is that it's time for this month's Rudolph Days Challenge. For my offerings this month I'm showing you what I made with the new dies and USB from Tattered Lace. I fell in love with these beautiful Bauble dies and Charisma as soon as I saw them, so when they arrived I had to get them out and play with them straight away. There are 6 different scenes and I've made one of each, I'm sure you'll agree that they are very pretty. I also treated myself to the new Scan-n-cut (DCX 1200) with the automatic blade and made the bottom card using the Scan-n-cut and the Carnation Crafts Christmas USB. In no time at all I had all of the pieces cut out and ready to put together on a card blank. All I add was a generous helping of glitter. Anyway onto the challenge, I do hope that you can pop across to the Rudolph Days Blog and join in the fun this month. Maureen has a wonderful prize ready to send to the person who is chosen at random as the winner this month.

Parent and Child

This week it's my Brother-in-laws Birthday and as I know he doesn't blog or even own a computer I know I'm safe to post this here now. He's very awkward to make for as he has no interests really. He does like to watch wildlife programmes on the TV though so I reach for the Tattered Lace Wondrous Wilderness collection for inspiration for his card. This is what I settled on in the end. I printed off the charisma and die cut the tiger and cub out and then found a suitable background on the USB . It's all been put together on a 7x7 card base. I going to pop over to the River of Creativity with this card as they are asking for cards showing Parent and Child and also to CD Sunday which is anything goes as long as you've used a CD or USB or digital image.

50th Birthday

Sorry I've been absent for a little while, but between completing the sale of my Mother's house and then grabbing a few days away with hubby and friends in North Yorkshire things have been quite busy. Also my mojo has been on a long walk about for months now, but I'm glad to say has been making a comeback this last week and I've actually made quite a few cards over the last week. It includes this one which is an order from a friend, in fact it's part of an order as I have to make four 50th Birthday cards for the same person for August. I know the person this is for does not read my blog so am quite safe in posting this now. I've used dies and digital downloads from Carnation Crafts for this card so will be dropping into the challenge over on the CD Sunday blog, where the challenge is anything goes.

The Age Of Steam

I have another card from the Tattered Lace Vintage Escapades for you today. This one was made for my Father-in-laws 93rd Birthday which he celebrated at the beginning of this month. This Collection is fast becoming my favourite go to for masculine themed cards, there is quite a lot to choose from. Everything was printed onto glossy photo paper before being matted onto some pearlised grey card stock.

70th Birthday

Just popping in today to show you the card that I made for Hubby's birthday which was on 23thApril. It was made using the USB and dies from Tattered Lace, Vintage Escapades. This is a beautiful collection just right for masculine cards. In 2016 we went on an Alaskan Cruise and were lucky enough to see a whole field full of these magnificent birds all just sat. They were a lot bigger than I thought they were and look just like little old men hunched down. Glad to say that Hubby loved his Birthday card even if we couldn't celebrate properly because of lockdown. As I have used a USB for this card I'm going to pop across to the CD Sunday Challenge and take part this time. It's Anything Goes.

Happy Birthday

I've been very taken with Carnation Crafts die sets since they launched a couple of years ago and recently bought the set that this gorgeous die set, it's called Moments in Time. When it arrived I knew that I wanted to make a card for a friend who celebrated her Birthday last month. I printed out the Charisma onto gloss photo paper and die cut all of the pieces that I needed and I also cut the base layer in gold mirri card. I then used and 8x8 card blank for my base and built up the layers using glue gel for the flowers. I'm glad to say that it was well received.

April Rudolph Days

The 25th of the month is here again and that means it's time for the Rudolph Days challenge over at Scrappymo's. It my turn on the DT this month and my card for you has been made using the New USB by Sheena Douglas. I've used this gorgeous digi stamp of a beautiful Robin sitting on a branch. I really enjoyed getting the pencils out and losing myself for a couple of hours colouring 8 of these and then making them up into cards ready to go into my box for Christmas. The base card is A5 and the silver matting is from some wallpaper that I found in the DIY shop prior to lockdown last year. Not sure that I would want it on my walls but it looks great as a backing card. I do hope that you can come and join in the fun this month, Maureen always has a wonderful prize for the person who is chosen at random as the winner.

Hoping that this finds you all keeping well and staying safe.

Happy Birthday Daughter

Tomorrow is my Sister-in-laws birthday and this is the card that I have made for my Father-in-law to give to her. I have used Tattered Lace's Natural Collection for this card (I have used this die set before for my Daughter) and the Heart die is from another set. I printed the sentiment onto card before cutting it out with the die. There are several layers to the flowers giving it lots of depth.

I've been so busy over the last week, we have signed the contract to my Mum's house and although we have not exchanged yet it made us realise that we had to get the remaining furniture and her belongings out quite quickly. So I have been backward and forwards taking photos and advertising things for sale and for free and then having to be there for collection. Also the garage still had lots of stuff in from before my Dad passed away back in 2007. It's been quite a roller coaster of emotions for both my sister and myself and it looks as though it will continue for the next week or so too.

Best Wishes

My card today is one that I have made ready for my Sister-in-law who's birthday is next week. For this card I've used the one of the Grown Together dies from Tattered Lace, it is one of 6 that has the sentiment coming out of the flowers. I printed it out twice (there are 2 on a sheet)  and after placing the first layer onto the background cut out I then cut into the others cutting a little more away each time to form the decoupage. Although it does not look it from the top there are layers there. As I've used a USB and My Craft Studio for this card I'm off to join it with CD Sunday again this week.

Rudolph Days

Where did March go, it's flown by far too fast. As it's the 25th today it's time for another Rudolph Days over at Scrappymo's. As always Maureen has a wonderful prize up for grabs for the person who is chosen at random. It's a fun challenge for anyone to enter, all you have to do it make a Christmas card, pop along and join in the fun. As it's not my month to be a DT member I can enter this month too.

For my card this month I've used stamps from Daisy B. I bought these back in 2019 at a show at the NEC which I had won the tickets to go to. It doesn't show very well but there is a lot of sparkle going on with this card. I stamped with versamark and then embossed with wow silver sparkle embossing powder. I then coloured in elements of the snowman before edging the topper with silver glitter and then mounting onto an A5 card base.

Now You Are 2

Last week it was our youngest Grandson's 2nd Birthday and below are that three cards that I had to make for him. The top one was made using the Monsters digital downloads from Pookadoodles. I printed onto 200gms glossy photo paper and mounted onto irridecent mirri card. The sentiment and numbers were all cut using Rob Addams dies in the same mirri card.

The next two cards were made by downloading pictures of his favourite programs that he likes to watch when he comes to Nanny and Grandads house. We look after him normally a couple of days a week. Hubby gets up and makes me a cuppa and brings it up to me in bed and when our grandson arrives he comes up and climbs into bed with me for cuddles and demands to watch TV. After about 30 minutes we have to get up and have breakfast (my first his second).

Like the first card these two have been made using 200GMS glossy photo paper and the same mirri card.

50th Birthday

I think I told you in an earlier post that March is a busy month for me Birthday wise, today is our Nephews 50th Birthday, last week was his bothers 48th and Thursday is our youngest Grandsons 2nd Birthday that is just 3 out of the 7 I need to make for. I've had to make cards not only for myself but for my Father-in-law and my son to send. Last week's cards went out of the door so quickly I didn't get a chance to take photos of them. I did manage to get a photo of this one which is the one we sent. I've used the new Vintage Escapades collection from Tattered Lace. A great collection if you get stuck for male themed cards and although I have used foam pads on this card I've still kept it fairly flat as it had to go in the post. As all of the artwork for this card was on a USB and used within My Craft Studio I thought I would head over and join in the CD Sunday challenge this time, it's anything goes.

A Stamped Image

A Stamped Image is the new challenge over on the Allsorts blog this week and I just happen to have uploaded this card onto the PC from my camera. It's a 5x7 size card made using a stamp by Phill Martin, Daffodils Medley. It's such an easy stamp to use and all you need to do after stamping is pick out the bits you want to add colour to. I love to see the yellow daffodils coming out in the garden, it reminds me that spring is on its way bringing the butterflies and hopefully the sunshine.

New Home

Three days in a row, what went wrong I hear you saying? I'm here today to share a card that I made for a Crafty friend who recently moved. I've used a topper and a piece of my precious Heartfelt Creations paper for this card and also flowers from the Lush Lilac Collection. My challenge to myself with this card was to keep it fairly flat for posting, normally I would layer up the topper with foam pads rather than just putting directly onto the background and then to build up the flowers. I think I succeeded in keeping it flattish. Its early lunch for me today as I'm off to get my Covid vaccine this afternoon. I'm pleased to be getting it but not looking forward to it either, if that makes sense to you.

Use Yellow

I'm back again today to share a card that I've made for the Allsorts Challenge this week which is Use Yellow.  I recently treated myself to the Tim Holtz Perspective Butterfly Die and I've been itching to use it. This challenge seem like the right time to get it out and give it a go. The background has been made using oxide sprays in yellow tones, when dry it was cut to size and then I went over it with a Lavinia stencil using Scattered Straw Distress Ink. After cutting the butterfly from 300 gsm card stock I blended Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade and Vintage Photo Distress Inks over the butterfly, then I inked all over with Versamark and embossed with Wow Clear Gloss embossing powder. I will admit to this die being far bigger that I first though when I bought it. The card base is a 7x7 and as you can see the butterfly at an angle fills the space. I've not added a sentiment to the card yet as I'm not sure where it's going to go.

I'm also going to pop along to the Butterfly Challenge this time. Although my card does not fill all of the requirements it is using a yellow which covers the Jasmine colour and off course the butterfly is there too. And finally as this is new and not been used before I'm going to pop along to the NBUS challenge too.

Mistake Corrected

First let me say sorry for being absent for a while, as well as paperwork relating to my Mum I have lots of Birthdays in March. So I have been busy making cards, most I've remembered to take photos of but a couple fell through the net and needed to be posted out as soon as I had finished them. My busy month started with my Daughter's Wedding Anniversary, you might remember that I admitted to making a big mistake on the card that I had made for her Granddad to give to them and made her a great- granddaughter. Well I managed to fix it. I reprinted the sentiment slightly bigger than the original and then cut down to size and it fitted over the top perfectly. They loved the card and laughed when I told them of the mistake that I had made. I used Tattered Lace Dies from the Keep It Natural Collection and the backing paper from another collection but went with the colour of the flowers.

February Rudolph Days Challenge

Where has this year gone to already? I can't believe that we are nearly at the end of February but as we are it's time for this month's Rudolph Days Challenge. For those of you who haven't heard of this challenge before it's run by a lovely lady called Maureen who lives in Canada and runs from 25th of the month until the end. You can enter 1 card with any Christmas theme per month and the winner is pick at random at the end of the month. Maureen normally has a choice of 2 prizes for you to pick from should you be lucky enough to win. For my card this month I have used a stamp by Creative Expressions, there were 6 stamps in this set and they are all long and thin. I started with an A4 piece of card and sprayed it with Distress Oxide in greens. When dry I cut the card into three and stamped on each piece using versafine ink, then embossed using fine gold embossing powder. I then mounted them onto some gold card and then an A5 card blank. I'm not sure if I'm going to add a sentiment yet of just let the baubles speak for themselves. These are my first three cards into my box for this year. As many of you already know I usually make my Mum's Christmas cards for her, but as she has recently passed away the pressure has eased this year and I'll not have to produce so many.

Three for my box

A Big Mistake

The other day I showed you an Anniversary card made for our Nephew and his wife on the occasion of their Anniversary. I also made one for Father-in-law to give to his Grandson. However if you read what I've put on the sentiment (FIL is blind so didn't see my big mistake) you'll understand why I had a phone call from an amused Sister-in-law pointing out my mistake. As I was making this card for our Nephew I was reminded that it was also my Daughter's Wedding Anniversary coming up on the 1st March, so I made her card from FIL at the same time. Yes you've guessed it I made the same mistake on that card too. So my job today is to see if I can alter the sentiment without having to remake the card. Hopefully my mind is getting back to normal and I won't be making any more stupid mistakes on any future cards. Papers and Dies for this card were from Tattered Lace Keep It Natural.

Add A Number

I'm trying desperatly to get back to some sort of normality after the passing of my Mum. At the moment my mojo has been on holiday and is just getting back. So I looked about at what challenges there are at the moment and saw the Allsorts Challenge wanted A Number Added to their submissions this week. It reminded me that I had a card from the beginning of the year that I had not posted on here yet. It was made for our Great Nephew who turned 21 in January using the lion stamps from Pink Ink designs. I know that he spent the day quietly as he had Covid at the time. He's recovered now though and is back at work.

It's Been A While ....

It's been a while since I last post and I would like to thank you all for your kind words of sympathy you left for me. Tomorrow 12th February is Mum's funeral, something I'm not looking forward to. It's also my Nephew's wedding Anniversary so the card that I have made here is on its way to them. I'm safe posting it on here as neither him nor his wife blog. I used My Craft Studios Floriography to make this card. It's from the Elements sheet section, which means that I only had to print off the one page and everything for the card was on the one sheet, I just added some red and silver mirri card. I hope they enjoy their day.

A Very Heavy Heart

Last weekend I sat and happily made these two cards for my Mums 90th Birthday which was on Tuesday. We took the cards and the presents into the Care Home she is now living in and had a lovely half hour (our allotted visiting time) talking to her through a window and a hearing loop. We left flowers for her and so had other people, so many in fact that when my sister visited that afternoon she laughed and told her that her room look just like a flower shop. Who would have thought that less than three days later she would be taken from us, so suddenly and with no apparent reason. She had seemed very healthy and happy when we visited with her. Even the care home are in shock at her passing. We can only hope that the Coroner can find out what the problem was. My Mum was in the care home after a fall at home in August, when the ambulance took her into hospital I could not go with her because of this awful Covid 19. All I was allowed was a quick hug and a kiss, since then she has either been in hospital or the care home and we have not been allowed to touch her. What I wouldn't give just to give her one final hug right now.

Please all stay safe and well

Favourite Colours

Wow what a long time since I last blogged. What with Christmas and also my Mojo went for a little walk about too, but I'm glad to say that it back now. So my card for today was made for my Great Nephew who turned 21 last week. I've used an 8x8 card base and a stamp for what is at the moment my favourite stamp company Pink Ink. I started by stamping this gorgeous monkey with spiced marmalade distress ink and then smudging it with an ink blender, I then added a little more of the spiced marmalade ink around the head and face area before over stamping with ground expresso distress ink. I then went around the outside with the new rustic wilderness distress ink colour and used a leaf stamp around the edges. I just added a little dot of white pen to highlight the eyes. This week over on the Allsorts blog they are asking for cards using your favourite colour and as I used the lovely warm oranges that I always seem to reach for with card making it has to fall into the category of a favourite colour. So I'm off to join in the fun this week.

Hope to be back with something new soon
