No card from me today, but I have been having a bit of a play with a kit that was from the Creative Craft Academy and I'm going to pop along to the More Mixed Media Challenge with it. This month it's Anything Goes with the option of Green. You get everything in the kit to complete the project, so there no need to go rummaging around your Craft Room or supplies to see if you have everything. Initially I thought that this was too dark, as everything is painted with black gesso. but then you get onto the decorating and there was some nice gold and bronze paints in the box for this part and I've managed to get a lot of dry brushing around the edge as well.
Tomorrow I'm off to the NEC with a friend with tickets that I won in a Facebook draw compliments of Claritystamp.
Thanks for taking the time to look and your kind comments which are always appreciated.

Mixed Media Project
I spent last Saturday with some friends celebrating a 60th birthday with one of them. As a Crafter this person decided that she wanted a crafty party for this big birthday so invited four friends to help her celebrate. We arrived and after a cup of coffee we started on this project, following an online course by Andy Skinner and using Deco Art products to decorate a paper mache book box. We had a great day with sandwiches and birthday cake at lunch time and then after continuing with the crafting in the afternoon. Later we went for a Thai meal in the evening to finish the day. I bought my project home and finished it with some embellishments that I had in my stash.
I'm entering this into the challenge over at the More Mixed Media Challenge blog, which at the moment is Anything Goes with the option of Blues. There's plenty of blue on my box so fits perfectly.

Steampunk/Goth Wedding
The other day I showed you a project made from the Creative Craft Academy, today I'm back with the project I made with some of the paints left over. The bit that was done with the same technique was the background, which I wanted to look like a piece of rusty metal. I've made this picture box for my Niece and her soon to be new Husband (they are getting married on the 12th October) who are both into Steampunk and Gothic. In fact this is the theme to their wedding. I saw the sculls on The Craft Box website and as soon as I saw them I knew that I needed to make them something with them, along with the cog corners which were also from The Craft Box. I had plenty of metal embellishments that I've put with them, just adding a bit of gold gilding wax onto the metal to make them a bit brighter. the paper roses were in my stash and I darkened that edge of those with distress ink. The circles in the other corners were left over from another project but seemed to fit in with this perfectly. I just hope that they both like it now it's finished. I'm off now to join in with the More Mixed Media Challenge.
Just need to make a card now.

The Creative Craft Academy
Recently I signed up to the The Creative Craft Academy, this was prompted by my love of Mixed Media and the fact that I sometimes buy stuff without really knowing how to use it. So I thought this would be a great way of learning and playing at the same time. This was my first kit that I received in July. Due to the mess in my Craft Room (now cleared) and the fact that we looked after my Grandson two days a week, it was sometimes hard to find time and space to craft. My Grandson started pre-school last week and now goes there 4 days a week (he wasn't keen last week) so now I have time to get things out and play. I really enjoyed making this and learnt another fantastic rust technique which I have already tried on another project that I'll show you later. The only thing that I would have done differently was I would have swapped the pictures that I was provided with to some sepia family photos, if only I could find those. I thought that I would pop over and join in the current challenge at More Mixed Media, which is Anything Goes with the option of Brown. I'm sure that this rusty look comes under brown somewhere. Now just to make a start on the August kit.

Another Mixed Media Tag
I so enjoyed making my last mixed media tag for the Allsorts Challenge that I decided to make another one, which I'm also going to enter into the More Mixed Media Challenge which is Anything Goes with Optional Brights. I started with the same size tag as last time but gave it a coat of white gesso this time. I then used a different Tim Holtz Stencil with some texture paste and this time I sprayed with distress sprays in three different colours. As they looked quite dull when they were dry I popped the stencil back over and coated the exposed with versamark ink and put some clear embossing powder on top, this gives it a bit more depth in colour and makes it nice and glossy. I added some lace, flowers a metal leaf and a butterfly button from my stash to finish.

Crafty Play Day
I belong to a local group of Crafters who meet once every two weeks on a Thursday evening and again once a month on a Saturday. Last Saturday was one of those days and below was the result of some playing with a canvas, texture paste, black card and gilding waxes. We started by putting texture paste onto the canvas and then partly drying it (the aim is to get like a skin on the top) and then pushing it about to get the ripple effect with a palette knife. When this was dry it was painted with a wash of Deco Art paints, I used Red, Yellow and Green on mine, although the green is very pale. While this was drying I cut out from black card, a Bee from a Tim Holtz Sizzix, Texture Fades die and embossing folder. I also cut out some flowers and leaves using some Tattered Lace dies that use the same technique as the bee, again in black card. The Dream die was from Tonic, I cut two of these and stuck them together. I then used Pebeo guiding wax on the Bee and Dream, and Viva Decor Inca Golds on the flowers and leaves (these come in various colours). After sticking everything in place I added some pearls that matched into the centres of the flowers and then some gold leaf around the edge of the canvas.
I'm entering this into the following challenge:

Happy New Year
Well I'm a bit late with the New Year Greetings with this blog post, but the New Year wasn't quite so good for us. New Year's eve my Father-in-law took a tumble at my Sister-in-law's (he was staying there for the New Year) this resulted in him breaking his hip and having to have a hip replacement done on New Year's Day. Everything went well with the op but as FIL is 90 in May it taken it's toll on him a bit. Two days later and now my Sister-In-law is in Hospital too with Kidney Stones. Hubby doesn't know which way is up at the moment. Anyway onto my post today, after going to a workshop back in September when we cover a note book, I decided at the time that if I bought some inexpensive A5 diary's and covered them, that they would make good gifts for Christmas. I ended up covering 16 Diary's, 5 notebooks and 3 little journals (the journals were for 3 super little ladies). All were a big hit and I've had nothing but great feedback from all who received them. This is something I think I'll be doing again.
I'm entering this into the More Mixed Media challenge, which at the moment is anything goes and the option of blue. Think this covers everything.
I'm also going to pop over to Pixies Snippets Playground as I used some left over cardboard scraps on the front as well as making the 2018 out of scraps too. There's also a scrap of lace in there somewhere.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by today and your kind comments which are always appreciated.

Friday's Playtime With Friends
Very often on a Friday I have a couple of friends who come for the day and we have a crafty play. Both are quite new to crafting so sometimes we end up doing something they have not tried before. This Friday we ended up decorating these expensive Mirrors from the Swedish shop, I'm going to make a couple of these for Christmas presents so now I've made this one I only have one more to go. I'm sorry that my hands have got in the way on the photo. I'm going to enter this into the Challenge over at Pixie's Snippets Playground this week (I've not been for a play for a few weeks now as I've been so busy) as the embossed pieces used on this are all from the scrap box, also most of the home made chip board pieces have been made with scraps too. As everything gets a coating of black gesso it really does not matter what colour the card is that you use. I'm also going to enter the More Mixed Media Challenge too, which is Anything Goes with an option to use orange.
