Make It Colourful At Stamping Sensations

In April I was very lucky to win the challenge at Stamping Sensations. As a winner I was asked to be Guest Designer on this months challenge which is Make it colourful. Visible Image are the Sponsers for this months challenge. I'm sure that the hot weather that we have been having recently has had many of your reaching for those bright colours, so why not pop over to the blog and join in with the challenge this month, the Design Team have always got beautiful cards for your inspiration, the only stipulation is that your card must have used a stamp or stamps as the main focus. For my card I've used my favourite Lavinia stamps to create this scene, the flowers were made using some Stampin Up punches that happened to be sat on my desk the day I made this.

Hope you are all keeping well and staying safe.

Snippets Playground

I decided it was time to have a bit of a tidy up yesterday, needless to say it wasn't long before I got distracted and had a play instead. I found a couple of pieces of watercolour card sitting on the top and also some sparkle powders from Nuvo that were just whispering to me to play with them. The background that I created has quite a shine to it but you can't see it in the photos. Also sitting on the top quite nearby was a set of stamps from Visible Image, Hip Hop Girls. I thought the two went well together. I'm off now to join in the fun over at Pixies Snippets Playground as my watercolour card was about to go into the snippets box and the black matting card came out of it.

Twofer Card Challenge

There's a new challenge blog just gone live called Twofer, the aim is to make two cards using the same stamps, dies etc to make two cards for different occasions. The first is Feathers, these can be attached to a bird on their own or incorporated in something. The cards below are what I came up with for the challenge. I used a stamp from a set of stamps called Peacock Glory from Chocolate Baroque and the sentiments are from a set called Mackintosh Sentiments again from Chocolate Baroque. The backgrounds were created using distress inks and a couple of texture stamps from Visible Image.

On the card below I used a stencil  on the background but can't remember who it was by as it's been in my stash so long.

The stencil used on the card below is from Imagination crafts.

One Layer Butterflies

It was quite a busy time last week, with hospital visits everyday, thank you all for your good wishes. Father-in-law is still in hospital with a chest infection we're hoping he comes home later this week and Sister-in-law is now at home with no diagnosis as to what is wrong. She has to return for more tests though and has been given six weeks off work. Right now onto my card today, this has been made for the current Butterfly Challenge, which is only for a few more hours so I'm getting in by the skin of my teeth. On the 6th January I went with my friend down to Eileen Godwin's and took one of her wonderful workshops, we made one layer cards just like this one. So when I got home I knew that this was what I would do for the challenge, it was just a case of finding the time to tidy a little so I had room to craft. Well I managed it this morning and this was the result. An A6 one layer card using Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar distress inks and then Picked Raspberry through a butterfly stencil. I then used the edge of a Visible Image stamp around the edges using Real Red from Stampin Up and then finally I used the Butterfly stamp from Visible Image and sentiment stamp from Crafters Companion.

I'm going to enter this into the following challenges:
Butterfly Challenge - O is for one layer and or the colour Ultra Pink
Allsorts Challenge - No patterned papers
A Bit More Time To Craft - Anything Goes

Sing

This card was made while at Eileen's workshop last Saturday, well when I say made  the topper was made but not mounted onto a card base or matted up. So after a tidy around my craft room yesterday (it was defiantly a case of where is my workspace, rather than what's on it),I got around to finishing it off. I'm going to enter this into the Stamping Sensations challenge this month as it's Anything Goes. It was made using Visible Image stamps and Distress Inks plus a little water on a stencil.

Workshop Results

Today I have my makes from Eileen's workshop on Saturday. It was a great day with the weather and the roads being kind to us on our journey to Kent, it takes about 2 hours from where we live in the top corner of Hampshire. We used 4 colours of Distress inks for all of the cards here. Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers and just for the centre of the eye we used Peeled Paint. Visible Image stamps were used for two of the cards and an Inkylicious stamps for the middle card. Lots of white dots were added to the top card using a white pen.

On this next card I added some raindrops using a stamp by Ryn.

This last card was using the same colours as the top two cards but used very differently.

All to soon it was time to get back into the car and travel home. The road was a lot busier and the heavens opened at one point, but we made it home safe and sound.

21st Birthday Card

Wow, where has the last 11 days gone. I've been busy visiting our gorgeous new Grandson Andrew, then I had an order from a friend for 7 cards, 4 of them 21st birthday cards to the same person (male) from different family members. I also decided that as I had not touched my knitting machines for the last 3 years that I would sell them. So I took a photo popped it onto eBay with a buy it now price thinking it would sit there for the 4 weeks and sold it within 1 hour. The person who bought it then wanted to pick it up the following day, so I had to quickly find and pack all the bits and pieces that go with it. Still it's now gone and I have more space, but hubby has banned me from filling it with crafting stuff.

Anyway onto my card today. I was given a small list of interests (very small) one of them being Party's, so I got out the Visible Image stamps that I bought at Ally Pally earlier this year. I started with a 6x6 piece of card and blended mowed lawn, salty ocean and peacock feather distress inks onto it. Then using a Clarity stencil (Jo's Bubbles) and some white ink I set about doing a Bokah technique, it was the first time I'd done this and I'm pleased with the result. Next using the drummer, the singer and the guitarist I stamped with Onyx Black Versafine ink on top. I used some blue card for the matting and some green card for the background which was made up of the word stamps that came with the stamps in different shades of green. The sentiment was cut using All Occasions dies. Hopefully I'll be back soon.

Craft A Scene - By The Silvery Moon - Week 1

October has snuck up on me while I was crafting. I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. Anyway as it's the beginning of a new month, it's time for another new challenge over on the Craft A Scene blog. This month we're asking for your entries to have moonlight in it. For my card this week I've used this wonderful new stamp from Visible Image (part of a collection of stamps celebrating The Wizard Of Oz). This also fell just right for my nieces birthday which is today, and she is a massive fan of the musical Wicked, which is why the witch is coloured green. I also used Stampscape stamps for the trees in the background. First I stamped the witch onto stamping card and the onto some copier paper and masked her. Next I stamped the trees over the top and masked these. I cut a circle with a large circle punch and place onto the card to make the moon. This then allowed me to get my brushes out for the background colours, which were different shades of blues starting with the lightest to the darkest in distress inks and then a couple of different greens, again in distress inks. After removing all of the masks I then coloured the witch with spectrum noir pens. The sentiment was from the same set as the witch. I do hope that you can find the time to pop over to the challenge blog and take a look at the wonderful cards the DT has made for your inspiration this week.
